Safety Guidelines
Use According to Label: Plant protection products or other gardening products should be used only as directed on the label of each product. Before use, carefully read the label and all hazard information and application instructions.
Personal Protective Equipment: Depending on the product (e.g., insecticide, fungicide, herbicide, fertilizer), wear appropriate protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection as directed on the label. Pay particular attention to the requirements for skin, respiratory, and eye protection.
Appropriate User Selection: Some products (especially plant protection products intended for professional or high-risk use) may only be purchased and used by adults with qualifications specified by law (e.g., a license to use plant protection products). Before purchasing, check the legal requirements in your country/region. Preparing the working solution: When diluting the product, pour the product into a partially filled sprayer (or other application device) with water, then top up to the appropriate level and mix thoroughly. Never add water to the concentrate – this may cause an uncontrolled reaction or splashing.
After using the solution or emptying the container: Rinse the container three times with water, and rinse the liquids into the sprayer according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Only after this rinsing is the container ready for disposal.
After application: Depending on the product, it may be necessary to wait for the solution to dry completely or for a specified period of time before re-entering the treated area. Always adhere to the withholding times or waiting periods clearly stated on the label.
Disposal of packaging: Empty gardening product containers should be handled according to the label instructions, including thorough rinsing (three times, as described above) and disposal in accordance with local hazardous waste regulations. Do not use empty containers for other purposes.
Environmental Safety: Some gardening products may be toxic to aquatic organisms, bees, other beneficial insects, or soil. Environmental protection recommendations on the label must be strictly followed (e.g., prohibiting use near bodies of water, specifying maximum doses, avoiding application in windy conditions).
Safety Data Sheets (SDS): The manufacturer or supplier provides safety data sheets (SDS/MSDS) for their products, containing detailed information on composition, hazards, precautions, emergency procedures, and toxicological data. These should be consulted before using the product and kept in a place easily accessible to all users.
Summary of the Most Important Rules
The label is a binding guideline – never use the product contrary to its instructions.
Personal protection always comes first – match protective equipment to the specific product and task.
Environmental Responsibility – Apply products carefully, avoiding splashing and contamination outside the intended use. When in doubt, consult an expert (e.g., an agricultural advisor, specialist retailer, or emergency services).
Note: These guidelines are general in nature and supplement specific instructions on the product label and safety data sheet (SDS). Always prioritize product-specific information.
