Carolus Pelicanus (16421702) swoje wykształcenie muzyczne zdobył w Pradze; tam też wstąpił do zakonu jezuitów. Pracował w wielu ośrodkach prowincji czeskiej Towarzystwa Jezusowego; jego twórczość znana była jednak także w ośrodkach innych zakonów: cystersów (Oseku), pijarów (Kosmonosy), kanoniczek regularnych (Wrocław), a także w Kromieryżu.
