Safety Warnings for Blenders
(In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 of the European Parliament and of the Council on General Product Safety – GPSR)
Important! Blenders are devices equipped with blades that rotate at speeds up to 30,000 rpm. Placing hands or cutlery in the jug during operation, blending boiling liquids in closed containers, and operating without proper supervision can result in serious cuts, amputation of fingers, steam burns, and hearing damage.
1. Mechanical Safety and Blades (Critical)
• Cutting Blades: Blender blades are extremely sharp and operate with tremendous force. Never place hands, fingers, or kitchen utensils (spoons, spatulas) inside the jug while the blender is plugged in. Even when the appliance is turned off, it can be accidentally activated. • Cleaning: Exercise extreme caution when cleaning knives.
It is recommended to use long-handled brushes to avoid direct hand contact with the blade.
• Safety Locks: Never attempt to bypass safety mechanisms (e.g., blending without the lid in place and locked).
2. Blending Hot Foods and Pressure
• Steam Burst (Critical): Blending hot liquids in a closed jug (especially in personal/nutrition blenders)
causes a sudden increase in pressure. This can lead to the jug exploding and severe burns to the face and body. Always
leave the lid vent open (if equipped) or blend only lukewarm
foods.
• Liquid Heating: Prolonged operation of a high-speed blender
can cause cold food to boil due to friction. Monitor the operating time according to the instructions. 3. Electrical Safety and Workplace
• Moisture and Water: The blender motor (main unit or hand blender handle) must never come into contact with water.
Immersing the electrical part in liquid can result in a fatal electric shock.
• Stability: Only place jug blenders on flat, dry, and stable surfaces. When operating at high speeds, the appliance may generate vibrations that cause it to slide across the countertop.
• Power Cord: Ensure the cord does not hang over the edge of the countertop – pulling on it by a child or pet could cause the heavy appliance to fall on your head.
4. Motor Operation and Protection
• Dry Running: Do not run the blender with an empty container. This can cause the seals to overheat and permanently damage the blade bearings. • Continuous operation time: Follow the operating time limits specified by the manufacturer (usually 30 seconds to 2 minutes). Overloading the motor
with hard products (ice, frozen fruit) may cause it to burn and emit toxic smoke.
• Damage to containers: Never use a jar that is
cracked or chipped. High speeds can cause the jar
to shatter into sharp pieces.
5. Disposal
• Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Collection: This blender is an electrical appliance
containing copper and electronics. It is prohibited to dispose of it in
general waste. This product should be taken to a PSZOK (Polish Waste Collection Center).
• Glass and plastic containers: Used jars (especially those made
of BPA-free or tempered glass) should be sorted
according to local guidelines.
• Packaging: Cardboard and polystyrene inserts should be
recycled.
