Lew Karsawin (18821952) to jeden z najwybitniejszych filozofów i metafizyków rosyjskich Srebrnego Wieku. Po rewolucji bolszewickiej wywieziony z Rosji sowieckiej na tzw. statku filozofów, znalazł schronienie na Litwie. Po aneksji Litwy przez ZSRR, pozbawiony możliwości pracy na uniwersytecie, oskarżony o zdradę, został zagłodzony w stalinowskim łagrze.
